This comes after CMC served as the beta testing site for the breakthrough Novalis Tx technology, which provides precise, fast, personalized non-invasive cancer treatment with the possibility of targeting multiple tumors at the same time.
Today, through a one-of-a-kind shaped beam technology, radiation oncologists can now precisely target the patient’s tumor. Despite the use of the word ‘surgery’ in its name, radiosurgery does not involve removing the tumor with a surgical blade. Rather, it protects healthy tissue around the tumor, while delivering the best possible treatment dose.
Novalis Tx Radiosurgery has so far allowed thousands of people around the world to continue their day-to-day activities while being treated for cancer. The new system involves computer software that rapidly generates radiosurgery plans for patients with multiple brain metastases - cancer cells that have spread to the brain from primary tumors in other organs. This allows for the treatment of multiple tumors at once, reducing the radio-surgical time by 70 minutes in a usual 90-minute treatment session.
