Clemenceau Medical Center affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International (CMC) launches the Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE) Program, a revolutionary non-invasive option for selected patients with benign enlargement of the prostate gland. Led by Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Kabalan Yammine, in collaboration with Head of Department of Urology, Dr. Nadim Ayoub, the program was officially announced after successfully performing the first case in Lebanon
The PAE program provides a minimally invasive alternative to bladder obstruction from an enlarged prostate. PAE is a non-surgical way of treating an enlarged and troublesome prostate by blocking off the arteries that feed the gland and shrinking it. Performed by an interventional radiologist, rather than a surgeon, the procedure is less invasive than current treatment methods and provides quicker recovery for patients. It is typically performed on an outpatient or day case basis with no need for a general anesthetic or an indwelling urinary catheter, and an excellent safety profile.
